Ethically Made
Ethical production of clothes is important to us. Our manufacturers do their best in reducing negative impacts on people, animals, and the planet where ever possible.
MEETING OUR BALI MANUFACTURERS
On a trip to Bali in August 2022, it was so important for us to meet our manufacturers face-to-face. We were able to witness the garment makers perform their magic from sample production, cut, make, and sew. Our manufacturers are a family-owned company consisting of a small team of 38 employees who work under safe working conditions and are paid fair wages.
OUR MANUFACTURERS IN CHINA
Our Chinese manufacturers are also small family-owned companies with employees ranging from 20-100. We have been fortunate enough to have 2 of our manufacturers meet us here in person in Sydney.
2 out of 3 of our Chinese manufacturers have conducted internationally recognised SEDEX ethical trade audits. We review all SEDEX audits and ask for videos from our manufacturers to ensure adherence to ethical trade and safe working conditions of their employees. We are working closely with our 3rd manufacturer to do so also.
COMBATTING THE STIGMA AROUND "MADE IN CHINA"
Over the past 2-3 years, I have done extensive research & enquiries into the production of garments. While some may consider "Made in China" a sign of lower quality, I challenge you to think otherwise. In my experience, I can truthfully tell you the quality is unparalleled.
The Industrial Revolution in China has meant the availability of high-quality equipment, solid infrastructure, specialised labour and raw materials supersedes that of many other countries.
I had a fair go at producing garments locally, however often found raw materials must still be imported from overseas. Logistically, it was more practical to work with Chinese factories who can handle the production from start to finish and thereby maintaining an overall lower one-time carbon footprint.
